1944 chief CDD1812. It has done 5000 miles since its
restoration (4000 of which was on the Century ride home). It runs very well
and its current known defects are a worn front wheel bearing and a small paint
chipped area at the lower edge of the rear front fender (bumped on a curb).
The rebuild was top to bottom. The changes from stock are the valenced guards,
a 12 volt system (VW gen), a higher quality padded seat. The speedo is
original and in mph but has been restored and runs accurately. For the ride
from LA to Springfield Mass. (60 to 65 mph) I had just one breakdown, a 10
minute pause until I discovered a faulty distributor connection. The bike is
currently stored near Springfield Mass. Price $ 16,500.
